‘Jasprit Bumrah has cleared the fitness tests…’: BCCI source

is all set to lock horns with Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series. Ahead of the series, Team India’s lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been cleared to make his appearance against Sri Lanka by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Earlier, he was included in the squad, subject to fitness clearance. He suffered an impact injury during the concluded ODI series against England. Following the injury, he had to sit out of the third ODI match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in the City of Westminster.

Team India will miss out on the services of Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who have sustained hamstring and quadriceps injuries, respectively. Washington Sundar has also been ruled out of the first Test match with a hamstring injury.

Winning the Sri Lanka’s series by a 2-0 margin is very important before embarking on an away series against New Zealand, which is expected to be a tough assignment.

On the other hand,   marks his comeback after recovering from a tennis elbow injury sustained during the 2026 Indian Premier League in May, reinforcing India’s spin department in spin-friendly subcontinental conditions.

The squad also features Yashasvi Jaiswal,  Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, and Devdutt Padikkal.

The first Test match between Team India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played from August 15 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium near Galle Fort. The Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo will host the second Test match from July 23.
