Sun Pharma Q1 Results: Net profit rises 27% to Rs 2,895 crore

Sun Pharma Q1 Results: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited on Friday, July 31, reported a 27 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 2,895 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026. In the same quarter last year, the company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,279 crore.

Revenue from operations increased 10.5 per cent to Rs 15,300 crore in Q1FY27, compared with Rs 13,851 crore in the year-ago period.

The company’s EBITDA rose 2.7 per cent to Rs 4,419 crore from Rs 4,301 crore last year. EBITDA margin stood at 28.9 per cent compared with 31.1 per cent in the same quarter last year.

Sun Pharma said the quarter included a one-time loss of Rs 204 crore.

Other income increased to Rs 724 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs 464 crore in the year-ago period.

The pharmaceutical company’s consolidated sales stood at Rs 15,183.6 crore in Q1FY27, registering a growth of 10.1 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Segment performance

Sun Pharma’s India Formulations business reported a 16 per cent growth in sales at Rs 5,475 crore compared with the same period last year.

The Emerging Markets (EM) Formulations business recorded sales of US$ 311 million, growing 4.2 per cent year-on-year.

The company’s Rest of the World business reported sales of US$ 218 million during the quarter.

The API business reported sales of Rs 597 crore, registering a growth of 10.5 per cent compared with the previous year.

Other key takeaways

The company’s Global Innovative Medicines business reported sales of USD 351 million, up 12.8 per cent year-on-year. The segment contributed 21.9 per cent of total sales.

Sun Pharma invested Rs 826.4 crore in research and development during Q1FY27. The R&D investment accounted for 5.4 per cent of total sales.

Management commentary

Sun Pharma Managing Director Kirti Ganorkar said the company’s quarterly performance was driven by strong growth in India and its Innovative Medicines business. He said the business delivered robust growth across the US and international markets.

“Recent semaglutide approvals in India, Brazil and South Africa underscore our capabilities in developing complex peptide products for patients globally. Organon shareholders have approved the proposed acquisition by Sun, which is on track to close in early 2027,” Ganorkar said.
