Rohit Saraf is all set to headline the upcoming romantic drama Heer Ranjha, with filming expected to start soon. While earlier reports suggested that Dhurandhar actor Sara Arjun would play the female lead, the latest update indicates otherwise. According to a new report, the makers have decided to cast a fresh face opposite Rohit instead. Directed by Sajid Ali and written by acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, Heer Ranjha is currently in development and will be backed by producer Ektaa Kapoor.

Rohit Saraf’s upcoming romantic drama Heer Ranjha has received a major casting update ahead of its production schedule. According to Variety India, the film is set to go on floors in the first week of September, with director Sajid Ali gearing up to begin filming after completing the screenplay with his brother, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali.

The project was officially announced on Valentine’s Day earlier this year and is based on the timeless love story of Heer and Ranjha. Ever since the announcement, fans have been eager to know who would star opposite Rohit Saraf in the film. Contrary to earlier speculation, the report states that Sara Arjun will not be part of Heer Ranjha. Instead, the makers have decided to introduce a new face as the female lead opposite Saraf.
Earlier this year, rumours claimed that Sara Arjun had signed as her next project after Dhurandhar. However, those reports were dismissed by casting director and filmmaker Mukesh Chhabra. Responding to the speculation on X, Chhabra made it clear that Sara Arjun has not signed any other film. He wrote, “She has not signed any film and has not met anyone regarding any project. So please relax, guys. I will personally update you about her next project.” He called all the other news is ‘only rumours.’
