Actress Raniya Raanaa who made her film debut in actor Dileep’s Prince And Family has become a sensation after her performance won her appreciation.
Directed by Binto Stephen, the film which released in theatres on May 9, opened to positive response from fans and critics alike. Following the success, audience began showering the film’s lead Raniya Raanaa with praise.
Raniya played the role of Dileep’s on-screen wife, Chinju Rani, a social media creator, whose life takes a turn she gets affected by the ever-changing trends online. The character she played had shades of grey to it, which is quiet different from the roles a first-time actress receives. Her role gave her the ability to go from person addicted to social media to someone who eventually regrets her choices.

Raniya Raanaa is trained classical dancer, who is a member of the International Dance Council UNESCO CID Paris.
In order to look her role in the film, she is set to have gained 62 kgs, as she was told to look chubby. As a trained classical dancer, Raniya is used to rigorous physical discipline, and works out two to five hours daily. However, once she received confirmation for the role in the last week of March 2024, she made a drastic shift in her lifestyle. “I completely stopped physical workouts until the final schedule wrapped in November 2024” In a post Raniya recounted a time with the writer, Sharis Mohammed, who insisted that the naturally sharp features she had had needed to be ‘softened.’
Raniya began playing the violin, veena, singing, dance. Talking about finding encouragement from her family she said EVT Bharat. “There was never any difficulty from my parents in letting me walk this path of art.” She is the youngest of three sisters.
Talking about grabbing the role in the film Prince And Family, she said “There was a call for an audition for Prince And Family. I wasn’t afraid because I was used to getting opportunities and losing them. I went to the audition completely relaxed. I had nothing to lose. That attitude, maybe, is what brought me luck.When I was selected to play Chinju Rani in the film, it felt like destiny. I realised something: if we truly desire something with all our heart, the universe will make sure we receive it,” she said.
