On World Tiger Day, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami appealed to increase awareness regarding forest conservation, protection of tigers and ban on single-use plastic.
Dehradun. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday attended a state level program organized at Hyatt Centric Hotel in Dehradun on the occasion of International Tiger Day. This workshop was organized with the aim of effectively implementing the ban on single-use plastic and strengthening the awareness campaign related to it.
During this, the Chief Minister expressed his views regarding environmental protection, protection of forests and conservation of wildlife. He said that maintaining balance between nature and development is one of the biggest needs of today.
If the forests are safe then the ecosystem will be strong.
Chief Minister Dhami said that conservation of tigers is not a matter of saving just one species, but is linked to the protection of the entire ecosystem. According to him, if the forests remain safe then the entire ecosystem will develop and the wildlife will directly benefit from it. He said that International Tiger Day has special significance for us. The prosperity of forests and the safety of tigers are linked to each other. When forests remain healthy, the natural habitat of tigers will also be safe and this will maintain the balance of nature. The Chief Minister also reiterated that the Uttarakhand government has always been talking about a balance between ecology and economy. He said that along with development, it is important to give equal importance to environmental protection.

Appeal to raise awareness against single-use plastic
While talking to the media after the programme, the Chief Minister expressed the need to increase public participation in the ongoing campaign against single-use plastic. He said that this campaign will not be successful only through government efforts, but participation of common people is also equally important.
He said that this seminar organized by Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board is an important step towards increasing awareness among the people. Such programs make people more sensitive towards environmental protection and make them realize their responsibilities.
Appeal to tourists to adopt responsible tourism
Chief Minister Dhami also made a special appeal to the tourists visiting the state. He said that a large number of people come here to enjoy the natural beauty of Uttarakhand, but everyone should take care not to leave filth behind them. He said that people should enjoy travelling, but avoid activities that harm the environment. It is the responsibility of every citizen to maintain cleanliness and throw garbage at designated places only.
Preparation to connect youth with plastic free campaign
The Chief Minister said that the state government is taking initiatives at various levels to connect the young generation with the plastic-free campaign. He believes that if awareness about environmental protection increases among the youth, such campaigns will get more strength in future. He said that it is the collective responsibility of all of us to leave a clean and safe environment for the coming generations.
