Austrian GP: Driver and team standings, when & where to watch qualifying and main race

New Delhi: It is back to Europe for Formula One, after a week of making news for the movie on the motorsport with Austrian GP kicking off a seven-race in Europe. It is back to ten teams competing for the prize for this season at least. McLaren have been dominating the season, though they are not completely unchallenged. The two Papaya drivers were competing with each other closely before the Canadian GP, where a late crash by Lando Norris meant the Driver’s Championship leader was the only one to take points for the team.

The season has now seen four winners, with Mercedes driver George Russell taking a brilliant victory in the Canadian GP. Despite Red Bull contesting the win post-match for winning under safety car, Mercedes have managed to take two podium finishes in the race. The win makes them go past Ferrari for the second place, though they are still very much behind the table leaders, McLaren.

How drivers and teams stand

McLaren have now collected 374 points after ten races and are followed by Mercedes, still in distance, who have 199 points so far. Ferrari, despite their underwhelming performance, have collected 183 points, followed by Red Bull Racing, collecting 162, with Max Verstappen collecting 155 points of them, almost alone, pulling the team along. Williams have managed to retain the fifth place in the table.

After being neck to neck until last week, Oscar Piastri has managed to go 22 points clear of his teammate Norris. The Australian driver has 198 points so far, while his teammate has 176 points so far.  Following closely in third is defending champion Verstappen, having won twice this season so far. George Russell had a strong grip on the third place until a couple of bad outings, including not collecting any points in Monaco, eventually pushed him to fourth place with 136 points so far.

Despite a lot of hype, Lewis Hamilton is yet to find the purple patch with the Ferrari team, taking just 79 points so far, standing in sixth place and is behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, who has 104 points so far. In spite of three races where Kimi Antonelli failed to finish, he has 63 points, right behind Lewis Hamilton.

So far in the practice session, McLaren and Verstappen have shown signs of consistency and would be eager to collect the pole position here in Austria. While the Dutch driver has the most wins (4) in the GP and even started on pole last season, it was Russell who won last season.
