The Yogi government has set a target of UP till 2047. The target is to give scholarship and fee reimbursement of 80,000 crore to 7 crore OBC students. So 24 lakh daughters will get a profit of Rs 14,400 crore.

Lucknow, 18 September. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a visionary target to establish Uttar Pradesh as ‘developed UP’ by the year 2047. The foundation stone of this ambitious vision is to provide high quality education to rural youth, especially the Backward Classes (OBC) community, as well as strengthening village hygiene and infrastructure. The government believes that in the next 22 years, the widespread improvement in these sectors can not only make UP an economy of $ 6 trillion, but can also play a decisive role in India’s development journey. In this direction, the Backward Classes Welfare Department is taking concrete steps for the socio-economic upliftment of the OBC community, which has brought new hope for this class with more than 52% population of the state.

Yogi government made unprecedented progress in OBC upliftment

The OBC class population in the state is more than 52%, and the dream of ‘developed UP’ without their empowerment will be incomplete. In the last eight years, the department has made significant progress in the field of OBC welfare. In the year 2024-25, 32,22,499 OBC students were provided scholarship and fee reimbursement, while in the last eight years, a total of 2,07,53,457 students got a profit of Rs 13,535.33 crore. This amount is four times more than the previous government’s expenditure of Rs 4,197 crore, which shows the Yogi government’s commitment to the OBC community. The department aims to ensure social equality through education by giving scholarship and fee reimbursement of Rs 80,000 crore to more than 7 crore OBC students by 2047. This step will be helpful in taking rural OBC youth to higher education.

Marriage grant scheme has been supported by poor daughters

The wedding grant scheme is a revolutionary step for the poor daughters of the OBC community. In the last eight years, 6,10,483 daughters were married after spending Rs 1,221 crore, while in the previous government the number was just Rs 2,75,311 and the expenditure was Rs 344 crore. Now the proposal to increase the grant amount from Rs 20,000 to Rs 60,000 is under consideration, which will strengthen the economic status of OBC families. By 2047, a target has been set to give a profit of Rs 14,400 crore to 24 lakh daughters, which will not only promote social upliftment, but will also contribute to poverty eradication. The scheme is important towards self -esteem and economic self -reliance to OBC daughters.

Technical training is opening the doors of employment for youth

Under the Computer Training Scheme run by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, 1,39,698 OBC youth were provided with CCC and O-Level training in the last eight years, giving thousands of government and private sector employment. This step is important towards making rural OBC youth self -reliant by connecting with modern technology. The department aims to train 11 lakh youth by 2047 and spend Rs 3,850 crore. This initiative will not only promote employment generation, but will also help the OBC community to advance in the digital age.

Yogi government will expand hostels for OBC students

Maintenance and new construction of OBC hostels is being given priority till 2047, so that more and more OBC students are benefited from free housing facility. This step is important to overcome the lack of education in rural areas. The new hostel facilities will provide OBC students an opportunity to study in a better environment, which is an integral part of the vision of ‘developed UP’. It is the effort of the department to become a modern hostel for OBC students in every district, so that education is not out of their reach.

This class ahead in making UP a leading state in national development

  • Empowerment of OBC community is possible by strengthening rural education, hygiene and infrastructure. The progress made by the department in education, marriage and employment in the last eight years is a milestone towards OBC welfare. Schemes like scholarship, marriage grant and technical training have given new direction to OBC youth and daughters. By 2047, this effort will enrich the OBC community and establish UP as a leading state in national development.
  • Minister of State (Independent Charge), Minister of State for Backward Classes Welfare and Divyang, Narendra Kashyap said that development is incomplete without the participation of the OBC community in rural areas. These initiatives of the Backward Classes Welfare Department not only are getting opportunities to the OBC youth, but will also strengthen the rural economy. The target of the 6 trillion dollar economy will come true only when the OBC community gets equal opportunities for education, employment and social security. This vision of the department is moving towards making UP self -reliant and prosperous by bringing the OBC community into the mainstream.
