Actress Isha Koppikar has opened up about her humble childhood and shared how her early struggles have shaped the way she is raising her daughter, saying she wants to prepare her for life rather than provide only comfort.
In a video shared on social media, Isha spoke about the tendency to judge people based on their present circumstances without knowing the challenges behind their journey.
“Nowadays, one thing happens very quickly – judgment. On social media, we see one chapter of someone’s life and create the whole script. Many people say it is easy for me to sit in luxury and speak, but maybe they don’t know my story,” she said.
Recalling her childhood, the actress revealed that she grew up in a small 400 sq ft house where six to seven family members lived together. She said travelling by rickshaw, buses and crowded local trains was a regular part of her life, while outings for meals were considered special occasions.
She added that new clothes were mostly reserved for festivals and birthdays, and summer vacations meant visiting her grandmother’s home.
Isha said her journey into modelling was followed by numerous auditions, rejections and setbacks, which taught her patience, hard work and perseverance.
Sharing how those experiences influence her parenting, she said she does not want to raise her daughter only with comfort but also with values and life lessons.
“Give your children what you didn’t get, but don’t give them so much that they never experience struggle, rejection or failure. Resilience doesn’t come from comfort; it comes from challenges,” she said.
The actress stressed that emotional strength and values are equally important alongside education and technology, adding that parents should help children develop the ability to face life’s challenges.
