Sawan Month Significance: The month of Saavan has been given special importance in Hindu religion. In the year 2026, Saavan is starting from 30th July 2026. This entire month is dedicated to the devotion of Mahadev, the god of gods. According to religious beliefs, the first day of Sawan is considered very auspicious. On this day, after waking up in the morning, taking bath and meditation, one should go to the temple and have darshan of Shivalinga. Worship done with true heart on the first day brings prosperity in the house. Small tasks done at this time remove all kinds of obstacles from a person’s life, hence worship should be started regularly from the very first day.

Offer water and Belpatra to Shivalinga in the morning.

On the first day of Sawan, wake up early in the morning and wear clean clothes. After this, go to the nearby temple and offer Ganga water, milk and plain water on Shivling. During puja, apply white sandalwood on fresh Belpatra and offer it. While offering Belpatra, keep in mind that the leaves are not cut or torn. Along with this, hemp, datura, fruits and flowers should also be offered. Chanting Om Namah Shivay mantra 108 times while sitting in the temple is considered very auspicious. In this way, offering water and Belpatra improves the financial condition of the house. Besides, mental stress goes away and the mind remains calm and happy.

Install a pylon at the main entrance and light a lamp

On the first day, it is very auspicious to clean your house and place a festoon of mango or Ashoka leaves at the main entrance. By doing this, bad influences are not able to enter the house. After this, light a lamp of pure ghee at the temple and main entrance of the house. Lighting a lamp near Shivling in the evening increases mutual love in the family. Shiv Chalisa and Rudrashtak should be recited in the evening. After the puja is over, perform aarti of Lord Shiva and ask him for forgiveness for your mistakes. By worshiping with this method, all the members of the house remain healthy and happiness and prosperity reside.

Donate food and clothes to the needy

Doing charity on the first day of Sawan gives manifold results. After finishing the puja, feed food to a poor or needy person as per your devotion. Apart from this, donating grains, milk, curd, white clothes or sesame seeds is considered very fruitful. Arranging water and grains for animals and birds is also a very virtuous act. On this day, do not harbor wrong thoughts towards anyone and talk to everyone in a sweet voice. Donation done selflessly destroys the old sins of a person. By doing this, Bholenath’s blessings always remain with the entire family.
