Fill ITR easily not only through the government portal but on these private apps, know how much will be charged!

Only two days are left for the last date to file Income Tax Return (ITR) for Assessment Year 202627 (FY2025-26). In such a situation, many taxpayers may be looking for easier ways to file returns online, especially those who have complex income profiles and whose investments are spread across multiple asset classes.

Although the official portal of the Income Tax Department is the core platform for filing ITR, many fintechs and financial platforms now partner with tax service providers to allow users to prepare and file returns digitally. These often include extra help like tax saving tips, pre-filled tax details, automatic import of investment data and expert support.

ITR service providing platforms and their charges

Many fintechs and financial platforms are now offering income tax filing facility in their apps, making it easier for users to prepare and submit their ITR without having to visit a separate tax-filing website. The aim of these in-app services is to simplify the filing process by bringing information related to investment, banking and tax at one place. Here is a list of some options:

  1. Paytm: In partnership with Cleartax, Paytm will now offer ITR filing service directly through its app. This feature includes automatic tax data fetching, pre-populated data and one-click import of trade information from multiple brokers for those who have made capital gains. The plan starts from Rs 11.
  2. Angel One: The stock-broking firm has also tied up with Cleartax to provide tax-integrated ITR filing services to its users. This feature allows investors to import capital gains data directly from their Angel One account, reducing manual work while preparing ITR. Users can choose between self-filing and expert-assisted filing services.
  3. PhonePe and JioFinance: Through partnership with TaxBuddy, both PhonePe and JioFinance offer in-app ITR filing solutions. The service includes options for DIY filing as well as expert-assisted return filing, with entry-level self-filing plans starting at Rs 24.
  4. INDmoney: This platform allows taxpayers to file their assessment year 2026-27 ITR for free. It allows you to automatically calculate tax on US stocks, Indian stocks, mutual funds, dividends, F&O trades, intraday trades and salary income and file returns in one click. All these things are automatically synced and calculated.

These facilities show that fintech companies are now moving beyond providing payments and loans towards digital financial services. According to government data, more than 4.3 crore ITRs have been filed so far, while about 4.1 crore returns have been verified for assessment year 2026-27.

As the tax department is promoting online return filing and millions of taxpayers are expected to file returns by the July 31 deadline, low-cost app-based filing solutions can make it easier to comply with tax regulations. Additionally, they can also provide expert tax help to more users across the country.
