Jagran Correspondent, Rudraprayag: Amid continuous heavy rain in Uttarakhand, the water level of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers reached above the warning level on Wednesday morning.
According to the report issued by the District Emergency Operation Centre, the administration has appealed to stay away from the river banks and has instructed all the concerned departments to remain alert. According to the report, the weather in the district remains rainy.
In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 37.50 mm was recorded in Ukhimath tehsil, while 10.00 mm in Rudraprayag and 12.00 mm in Jakholi.
According to the data recorded at 7 am on Wednesday, the water level of Alaknanda river was recorded at 626.80 metres, which is above the warning level of 626.00 metres and is very close to the danger mark of 627.00 metres. The Mandakini River recorded a water level of 625.50 meters, flowing above the warning level of 625.00 meters. Water levels in Ganganagar and Gaurikund are currently below the warning level.
In view of the rising water level of the rivers, the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats are continuously appealing to the people through loudspeakers to stay away from the river banks and not to go near the river unnecessarily, so that any possible accident can be avoided.
Highway Closed In Silli, Kedarnath Yatra Stopped
Road traffic has also been affected due to the rains. The Shri Kedarnath Yatra has been partially halted as a precautionary measure due to the blockage of NH-107 near Silli. Additionally, one national highway, seven state highways, four Public Works Department (PWD), four PMGSY, and one NPCC road have been affected at various locations.
The district administration has directed all departments to maintain the highest level of preparedness to deal with any potential natural disaster. The public has also been urged to immediately report any disaster, accident, or road blockage to the District Emergency Operations Center.
