Bengaluru Woman Harassment: There was silence in the Ramamurthy Nagar area of Bengaluru city, known as Silicon Valley of Bengaluru, around 1:30 am on Monday. A 26-year-old corporate female employee from Chikmagalur was standing outside her paying guest (PG) accommodation, waiting for her cab as usual. He had no idea that within a few moments such an incident was going to happen to him which would destroy his security. Then a scooter cuts through the darkness and stops right in front of him. The person riding the scooter starts staring at the woman continuously, due to which a strange restlessness and fear spreads in the atmosphere. Instead of panicking or moving away, the woman took out her mobile phone, started recording the video and this decision changed the course of the entire matter. The video went viral on social media, the police swung into action and within a few hours the accused was behind bars.
Woman was waiting for cab, then scooter stopped
According to the police, the incident occurred around 1:30 am on Monday. A woman working in a private company was waiting for a cab outside her PG residence. Meanwhile, a person riding a scooter came and stopped near him. The woman alleges that the man first kept staring at her continuously and then started saying objectionable things to her. When the woman protested and asked why he was doing this, the accused allegedly asked her “price” and offered her ₹10,000. This was the moment when the woman immediately took out her mobile and started recording the entire conversation.
That disgusting offer of ₹ 10,000: which challenged self-respect
When the woman directly questioned the intentions of the unknown man instead of tolerating his actions, the man crossed all limits. He very shamelessly asked the woman her “price” and offered her ₹10,000. This was a huge and disgusting attack on the self-respect of a working woman in the silence of the midnight. Police action and that ‘strange’ claim of the accused

On the complaint of the woman, the police laid a trap and arrested the accused. The accused was identified as Vijay Raghav, a 42-year-old fruit vendor, resident of NRI Layout. The police have also confiscated his scooter. However, during interrogation in police custody, accused Vijay Raghav tried to fabricate a different story. He claimed that he had stopped only to listen to a phone call and when the woman asked why he was seeing her, he jokingly or in some other context said that she would give him ₹10,000.

Taking a tough stand on the matter, a senior police officer has made it clear that no matter what argument the accused gives, asking any woman for her “rate” at midnight and offering money is an unpardonable crime.
