Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [भारत]July 28 (ANI): After the weather department issued an orange alert in several districts and continuous heavy rains since Monday night, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the current situation in the state in a high-level meeting with Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman. The Chief Minister took a detailed account of the rain situation across the state, the situation in various districts, closed roads, water level of rivers, waterlogging, ongoing relief and rescue operations and the preparedness of the administration to deal with any emergency.
Meanwhile, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Madan Kaushik and Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan also reviewed the rain situation with Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman. He directed all state and district emergency operation centers to work round the clock, continuously monitor incidents and ensure immediate and coordinated action during any emergency.
CM gave instructions to remain on alert 24×7
Chief Minister Dhami directed all the departments to work with complete coordination and remain on alert 24×7. He said that during any disaster or emergency, there should not be a moment’s delay in relief and rescue operations. He directed the officials to take immediate action on every information and provide all necessary resources to the affected areas without delay.
The Chief Minister also directed the District Magistrates and senior departmental officers to go to the field and personally take stock of the situation.
Priority to open roads and restore services
The Chief Minister directed the officials to give top priority to reopening of roads closed due to heavy rains. He directed that adequate number of JCBs, Pokeland machines, dozers and other necessary equipment should be deployed to restore connectivity as soon as possible, so that relief and rescue operations continue without any hindrance. He also directed that helicopter services should be kept on full alert so that if needed, relief and rescue operations can be immediately launched in remote and disaster affected areas, so that timely assistance can reach the needy.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to immediately restore electricity, drinking water and communication services on priority basis if they are disrupted due to heavy rains or landslides.
Safety of Char Dham pilgrims is top priority
Emphasizing that the safety of pilgrims on the Char Dham Yatra and other routes across the State is the top priority, the Chief Minister directed that in case of heavy rains or landslides, the pilgrims should be stopped at safe places and allowed to proceed only after the weather conditions improve and the routes are declared safe.
