The change, reflected in voter registration records obtained by People, marks another milestone in the 20-year-old’s journey into adulthood.
According to the records, Suri registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, during her first year at Carnegie Mellon University in October 2024. Her registration lists her as Suri Noelle, with Noelle being Katie Holmes’ middle name.
The name change did not come as a complete surprise. Months before registering to vote, Suri had already used the name Suri Noelle during her high school graduation ceremony in June 2024. Around the same time, Tom Cruise was spotted attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri in April 2006 before tying the knot later that year in November. The couple divorced in 2012, after which Holmes largely kept her daughter away from the spotlight while raising her.
Following Suri’s transition to college life, Katie Holmes shared rare comments about her daughter during an interview with Town & Country. Expressing her pride, Holmes admitted she would miss having Suri close by but was excited to see her begin a new chapter. She reflected on that stage of life as a time of discovery and new beginnings, saying it made her happy to watch her daughter experience it.
Later, in December 2024, Holmes also addressed speculation surrounding Suri’s relationship with Tom Cruise, publicly denying reports claiming that her daughter had inherited a trust fund from the actor.
Meanwhile, both Cruise and Holmes remain busy with their respective careers. Tom Cruise is preparing for the release of Digger, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 2, 2026. The film will see Cruise portray Digger Rockwell, described as “the most powerful man in the world,” who embarks on a desperate mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before a disaster of his own making destroys everything. The cast also includes Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Riz Ahmed and Emma D’Arcy.
Katie Holmes, on the other hand, was recently seen in Happy Hours, a romantic dramedy that she wrote and directed. The film, featuring Joshua Jackson, Mary-Louise Parker, Joe Tippett and Constance Wu alongside Holmes, premiered at the Tribeca Festival on June 6, 2026.
