Fatty liver patients are continuously increasing in India today. If we look at the data, according to PubMed, about 38 to 39 percent of adults in the country are likely to have fatty liver. This figure is based on research from 50 Indian states. According to this, if the population of the country is 1.46 billion, then about 40 crore people are affected by some level of fatty liver. There are three stages of this health problem and after this the situation reaches liver cirrhosis.

Experts say that most adults have grade-1 fatty liver. Things get worse when this condition reaches cirrhosis. Many methods are tried to cure the liver or keep it healthy. One of these is skipping dinner.

People think that if they skip dinner then it does not put extra pressure on the liver. Know this myth or truth from the expert.

Does skipping dinner reverse fatty liver?

TV9 talked to Dr. (Professor) Anil Arora (Chairman, Institute of Liver, Gastroenterology and Pancreatobiliary Sciences, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi) on this topic. Experts said that there is no scientific proof that fatty liver can be reversed by skipping meals at night. The most important thing is to eat food in pieces. It is best that the earlier the dinner is eaten, the better it is.

Experts say that the more we delay eating, the more we feel hungry. This increased appetite makes it even more difficult to reverse fatty liver. Therefore, it would be better to eat it in pieces instead of leaving the food.

Keep these things in mind

Weight management- If your weight is more than normal then try to reduce it. Losing 7 to 10 percent of overall body weight can improve liver fat accumulation, inflammation and early fibrosis.

Stay physically active- Experts say that we should do at least 150 to 300 minutes of physical activity throughout the week. By the way, if you can do strength training then it is best.

Distance from sugary foods- To reverse fatty liver, the most important thing is to remove sweet things from the diet. Cold drinks, packaged foods, sweets and high fructose foods increase fat on the liver. Eat these in limit.

Protein intake- Include good protein sources like lentils, cheese, low-fat dairy, eggs, fish or soya in every meal. This helps in losing weight and maintaining muscles.
