PM Awas Yojana 2.0 Bihar: ₹233.05 crore approved under PM Awas Yojana 2.0 in 45 urban bodies of Bihar. Know which cities got the maximum amount, who will get the benefits and important updates related to the scheme.
There is relief news for thousands of needy families living in cities. The first installment of ₹233.05 crore has been approved for construction of permanent houses in 45 urban bodies of Bihar under the Pradhan Mantri Awas (Urban) Yojana 2.0. This amount will provide financial assistance to those eligible families who do not have their own permanent house. The government’s aim is to speed up the process of housing construction and ensure timely assistance reaches the beneficiaries.
Housing construction will start in 45 urban bodies
The Urban Development and Housing Department has issued an order in this regard. This amount will be spent on beneficiary based construction (BLC) projects. Under the scheme, eligible families will get financial assistance in building pucca houses of 30 to 45 square meters.
The funds will be delivered to the concerned municipal bodies through SNA Sparsh system, thereby ensuring transparency and timeliness in payments.

Which cities got the most amount?
Sitamarhi Municipal Corporation has received the largest share of the sanctioned funds, where ₹20.63 crore has been sanctioned for housing projects. After this, ₹18.16 crore has been given to Bodhgaya Municipal Council and ₹17.03 crore has been given to Madhubani Municipal Corporation.
Apart from this, funds worth crores of rupees have also been allocated to many other urban bodies including Alamnagar, Mirganj, Chakia and Banmankhi Bazaar.
Both Center and State will together provide assistance
In the approved amount, funds have been released by the Central Government under different heads for other classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The state government will also add its share, taking a total amount of ₹233.05 crore to be spent on housing construction.
This scheme is applicable across the country from September 1, 2024 and now a big step has been taken towards its effective implementation in Bihar. If the funds are utilized timely and transparently, the dream of thousands of urban poor families of owning a permanent house can be fulfilled soon.
