NEET Paper Leak Row: After Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation amid NEET paper leak controversy, BJP rejected the report proposing to change the ministry. NDA and opposition face to face in Parliament, new anti paper leak bill also discussed.
CJP Demands Dharmendra Pradhan Exit: The student movement that started across the country over the NEET paper leak controversy has now turned into a major political event. After the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while NDA leaders openly supported him in Parliament, BJP has completely rejected the reports which claimed that the government had earlier proposed to change the ministry. This entire incident has further intensified the political debate from Parliament to the streets.
BJP termed the report proposing change of ministry as baseless
BJP MP and party spokesperson Sambit Patra refuted the media reports, saying such reports were completely “imaginary, baseless and baseless”. He clarified that no such proposal was made by the party and no attempt should be made to spread confusion among the people.
In fact, some reports had claimed that during the talks, the Central Government had proposed to change the ministry of Dharmendra Pradhan instead of removing him from the cabinet, which was rejected by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

Resignation took place after the third round of talks
Several rounds of talks took place between CJP and the central government. Three major demands were made by the organization-
- Unconditional release of Sonam Wangchuk.
- Resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
- Compensation of Rs 1 crore to families of victims of suicide cases related to NEET paper leak.
Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from his post after the third round of talks. After this CJP announced withdrawal of its ongoing protests across the country. The government also agreed to several demands, including withdrawal of cases registered against peaceful protesters.
Support and opposition in Parliament
When Dharmendra Pradhan reached Parliament, NDA MPs welcomed him and presented him a traditional cap as a mark of respect. On the other hand, opposition parties including Congress protested against the alleged police action on students and raised slogans of “education theft”.
Meanwhile, preparations were made to discuss the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in Parliament. Under the proposed amendment, a provision has been made to increase the maximum punishment from 5 years to 10 years and fine up to Rs 50 lakh in cases of paper leak and examination fraud.
This controversy is no longer limited to just one examination, but has become a national political issue regarding the education system, examination transparency and government accountability.
