These two opening pairs are jointly at the first position in T20 cricket by making 8 century partnerships each. But, if in the final of IPL 2026, Gill and Sudarshan make the same opening partnership as in Qualifier 2, then they will overtake the pair of Babar and Rizwan.

Gill and Sudarshan had equaled Babar and Rizwan in T20 cricket by making a brilliant century partnership in Qualifier 2. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan will also keep an eye on the IPL record made by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers 10 years ago. Virat and De Villiers scored the maximum 939 runs as a pair in IPL 2016. In the current season, Gill and Sudarshan have added 885 runs so far. Meaning, he is just 54 runs away from breaking the 10 year old IPL record of Virat-de Villiers.

It is clear that in the final of IPL 2026, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan can be seen killing two birds with one stone. If they keep an eye on breaking the world records of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, then the records of Virat and De Villiers will automatically be broken. Both Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan are at second and third place in the list of players who have scored the most runs in IPL 2026. Gill has scored 722 runs in 15 matches. Whereas Sudarshan has 710 runs in 16 matches. Both the players have also scored centuries in the current season.
