US President Donald Trump is once again at the center of a geopolitical storm, this time facing renewed threats from Iran. The latest warning came from Javad Larijani, a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who stated on Iranian television:
“Trump has done something that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago. As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It’s very simple.” Larijani’s statement adds fuel to growing concerns about Trump’s safety, especially following the emergence of an ominous Iranian-linked online platform called Blood Pact.
The Blood Pact website has openly called for “retribution against those who mock and threaten” Iran’s Supreme Leader. According to the platform, it has already raised over USD 40 million in bounties. “We pledge to award the bounty to anyone who can bring the enemies of God and those who threaten the life of Ali Khamenei to justice,” the site’s homepage declares.
While the platform did not directly name Trump, US intelligence officials and Trump’s aides see the connection as clear and credible, especially in light of two previously thwarted assassination attempts linked to domestic actors believed to have been influenced by foreign sources.
Security On High Alert
Trump’s inner circle has grown increasingly concerned over the threat landscape. In one instance, top aides feared that Trump’s highly visible Boeing 757 campaign plane, known as “Trump Force One,” could be a target. According to journalist Alex Isenstadt, the campaign even deployed a decoy flight with junior staff while Trump traveled on a private jet provided by a friend.
“Big threats on my life by Iran,” Trump posted last September. “The entire US Military is watching and waiting.”
Iran’s Stance: Denial With A Hint 0f Threat
Earlier last year, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian denied any official role in assassination plots against Trump. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi ominously posted, “Iran reserves all options,” on X following a minor missile strike on a US military base in Qatar earlier this month.
