Bank of Baroda: Amidst the ever increasing cyber threats in the country, now the name of the big public sector bank Bank of Baroda (BoB) is also in discussion regarding data security. According to reports, some customer data and internal documents of the bank have been claimed to be leaked on the dark web. However, the bank has clarified that its core banking system is completely secure and there was no unauthorized access to it. At present, forensic investigation of the case has been started and investigation is going on in collaboration with the concerned agencies.

Employee’s email account compromised

According to the bank, unauthorized access to some data was created due to compromise of an employee’s email account. After implementing initial security measures, the entire matter is now being forensically investigated. The bank says that there is no impact on customer transactions and the main banking system.

What information is claimed to be leaked?

According to cyber security researchers, the data available on the dark web is claimed to include personal information of customers, identity documents, loan related papers and some internal audit records. However, it is not yet clear how many customers’ data has been affected.

Questions raised again on cyber security

In recent months, incidents of cyber attacks on big companies and financial institutions of India have increased. Experts believe that in such cases, strong cyber security, regular audits and employee email security protocols become extremely important. Bank of Baroda says that necessary steps will be taken after the completion of the investigation.
