He congratulated the country’s medal winners through a series of Instagram Stories and highlighted their achievements.
Alia praised Indian athletes
The ‘Alpha’ actress shared a tribute graphic, honoring three Indian athletes who made it to the podium for the country. These included Muthupandi Raja, who won the silver medal in weightlifting, Rishikant Singh, who won the silver medal in weightlifting itself, and Zhandu Kumar, who won the bronze medal in para powerlifting. Along with the graphic, Bhatt wrote, “There are many reasons to celebrate. Congratulations to our weightlifting champions for these unforgettable achievements.”
Bhatt also dedicated a separate Instagram story to star weightlifter Mirabai Chanu after she created history by winning her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal. Sharing a video of Chanu’s performance, the actress praised the champion’s amazing consistency on the international stage. Her message read, “3 gold medals in a row. What a legend @mirabai_chanu!!!”

India’s excellent performance in weightlifting
Muthupandi finished second with a total weight of 286 kg, in which he set a record of 126 kg in snatch and 160 kg in clean and jerk. Malaysia’s Aznil bin Bidin Muhammad won the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record lift of 299 kg, securing his third consecutive Commonwealth Games title.
India’s weightlifting campaign continued to shine on the fourth day of the competition. Mirabai Chanu’s historic third straight Commonwealth Games gold led the charge, while Chanambam Rishikant Singh added a silver medal in the men’s 60 kg category. Muthupandi’s silver ensured that India won three weightlifting medals on the day.
In Para Powerlifting, Jhandu Kumar won the bronze medal in the men’s heavyweight event at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow. The 28-year-old achieved a best lift of 190 kg in his second attempt and secured his place on the podium with a score of 130.9. (ANI)
