Rishabh Pant on brink on achieving big Test feat as India await tough test at Lord’s vs England

New Delhi: Rishabh Pant is on the brink of achieving a massive Test feat when India lock horns with England in the third Test match against England in Lord’s from Thursday. Pant has had a fabulous run in the ongoing Test series as the India vice-captain smashed two consecutive hundreds in the opener at Leeds while struck a half-century in the second test at Edgbaston.

Pant, who is one of the ferocious six hitters in the Indian cricket team, is on the cusp of becoming the leading six hitter in Indian Test history. In a total of 45 matches till now, Pant has smashed 86 sixes in the longest format of the game and is closing in on breaking Rohit Sharma’s and Virender Sehwag’s six hitting record.

Sehwag has smashed 90 sixes for India in Test cricket and sits on the top of the list while Rohit is on the second position with 88 maximums. If Pant manages to hit 5 sixes in the forthcoming Test match, he will surpass Sehwag to become the leading six hitter for India in whites. Ahead of the start of the series, Pant had hit 73 sixes in the Test format.

The southpaw smashed as many as 13 sixes in the two Test matches (9 in first, 4 in second) to reach closer to the record of both the former Test players of India. MS Dhoni is on the fourth spot with 78 sixes to his name while Ravindra Jadeja and legendary Sachin Tendulkar have smashed 69 sixes each.

Meanwhile, the Indian vice-captain would be aiming to continue his superb form from the first two matches in the most crucial clash in Lord’s that would take either of the sides in the lead. England grabbed a commanding victory in the series opener in Leeds while India bounced back in the second match.
