Giving great relief to lakhs of central employees and pensioners of the country, the Central Government has issued a formal order to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) to 60 percent. According to this order issued by the government, the increased dearness allowance will be considered effective from January 1, 2026.
Increase of 2%, from 58% to 60% The government has announced a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance, due to which it has now increased from 58 percent to 60 percent. Although there has been some delay in the announcement this time, this increase is going to meet the demand of government employees. This increase is part of the government’s regular half-yearly process, through which the real income of employees is protected by reducing the impact of rising inflation.
Direct impact on salary: Rs 1,000 extra will be available on Rs 50,000 basic The direct benefit of this decision will fall on the pockets of the employees. For example, if an employee’s basic salary is Rs 50,000, he will now get approximately Rs 1,000 extra every month. Apart from this, the arrears till January 2026 will also be given to the employees and pensioners.
Separate orders will come for defense and railway personnel These revised rates of DA will be applicable not only to civilian employees but also to those drawing salaries from Defense Services estimates. However, separate orders for armed forces personnel and railway employees are expected to be issued soon by the defense and railway ministries.
DA will not be part of salary In the memorandum of the Finance Ministry, it has been made clear that dearness allowance will remain a separate part of remuneration. This will not be considered as part of pay within the scope of the fundamental rules, which is an important technical aspect for calculating various allowances and post-retirement benefits.
