New Delhi [भारत]July 27 (ANI): Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Monday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government over the alleged use of force and threats against students protesting against the recent exam paper leak. Talking to the media, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised questions on the attitude of the government citing reports of heavy-handed police action. Priyanka Gandhi said, “AK-47, pellet guns! Are these terrorists? They have again filed FIRs against students in Bihar and Bengal. They have not given up their habits.” Expressing concern over intimidation of women protesters, she said, “I have heard, though not confirmed, that parents of many girls are being threatened and questioned as to how they sent their daughters to take part in the protests. What does this mean? Can’t girls take part in protests in India?”
Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav also condemned the alleged atrocities, alleging that the “spirit of freedom” was being suppressed under the current regime. Yadav said, “We are seeing how atrocities on students are not stopping under the BJP rule. Pellet guns were used in Delhi, and as you are saying, AK-47s were used against students in Bihar. This is condemnable. The spirit of freedom of the people is being killed under the BJP government.”

The comments came after weeks of student protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which gained national attention after activist Sonam Wangchuk sat on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. Tension escalated during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on 20 July, where police reportedly used tear gas and lathicharge to disperse a crowd moving towards Parliament.
