New Delhi [भारत]July 26 (ANI): Union Minister Pralhad Joshi took additional charge of the Education Ministry in Delhi on Sunday and said he has started reviewing all the details and held meetings with senior officials. He said the Prime Minister had entrusted him with this responsibility with full confidence, and described education as a “new subject” and a “very big department”. He also said that he will talk in detail after fully understanding the functioning of the ministry.

Speaking to ANI, Joshi said, “The Prime Minister has entrusted me with this responsibility with full confidence. I was in Karnataka yesterday. I reached here last night and came to take charge this morning. I have taken charge. I am here reviewing all the details and decisions that need to be taken. I am gathering information and trying to understand the functioning of the entire ministry. We had frequent meetings today. This is a new subject for me. I have taken charge today.” And have had detailed discussions with senior officials. It is a very big department, so I will talk to you in detail after understanding it completely.”

Expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister on

Earlier, Joshi, in a post on X, expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for this appointment. The minister said, “Today, I take charge as the Union Education Minister. I am grateful to Honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for reposing faith in me and entrusting me with this responsibility.”

He further said, “I accept it with humility and a deep sense of duty.”

Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation accepted

On Saturday, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi was given the charge of the Education Ministry after President Draupadi Murmu accepted Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation from the Union Council of Ministers. Pradhan’s resignation was accepted with immediate effect, and Joshi will continue to hold the charge of the Education Ministry along with his existing portfolio.

An official release issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said, “The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Council of Ministers, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution of India, with immediate effect. Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, the President has directed that Cabinet Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi be given the charge of the Ministry of Education, in addition to his existing portfolio.”

Who is Prahlad Joshi?

Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Dharwad constituency of Karnataka, is holding the responsibilities of Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy. During his previous tenure, he was the Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs.

Pradhan had resigned regarding exam rigging

The decision came after Dharmendra Pradhan announced his resignation, in which he said he had submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the interest of students and to ensure that the ongoing protests over exam irregularities are not taken advantage of by “anti-national forces”.

The resignation comes after weeks of nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in competitive exams, with students demanding greater transparency, accountability and reforms in the examination system. (ANI)
