CM Saini lashed out at AAP government
Chandigarh (Punjab) [भारत]July 26 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday attacked Punjab’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the alleged pharmacy recruitment exam paper leak issue. He also supported the Centre’s move to bring strict laws against paper leaks and cheating in competitive examinations. Speaking to reporters, CM Saini said, “In Punjab, Manish Sisodia had announced that if the paper was leaked in Punjab, he would immediately accept the resignation of the Education Minister. Yet, just two days ago, the Pharmacy exam paper was leaked. Neither Kejriwal nor Bhagwant Mann paid attention to it, while students took to the streets.”
He accused the opposition of double standards. CM Saini said, “There is a saying that an elephant has more teeth to show and more to eat; it fits the Congress and Indi alliance perfectly. They point fingers at others, while themselves being immersed in corruption. The nation will not forgive them; the nation is watching.”
The comments come after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday demanded the resignation of Punjab Education Minister Bains. The SAD had alleged that six paper leaks, including the Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test, Class 12 English exam and Pharmacy Officer exam, had affected lakhs of candidates in the state.
Supported the Centre’s anti-paper leak law
On the proposed anti-paper-leak bill in Parliament, CM Saini said the central government’s move to bring in a more effective legal framework to deal with crimes like paper leaks and cheating in competitive examinations is being discussed across the country. “This is an important step towards securing the hard work and future of millions of youth. The country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been clear that there is no place for those who play with the hard work and dreams of the youth in the new India. The Prime Minister takes decisions keeping in mind their future and gives top priority to the interests of the youth. I have full confidence that anyone under his leadership—be it the paper-leak mafia, copying gangs, or anyone trying to snatch the future of the youth Whatever happens, he will not be spared.”
Targeted at previous governments also
“Strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to undermine the hard work of the youth. There were incidents of paper leaks even during previous governments, yet no one made any special law against them,” he told reporters. Saini said though the issue was discussed by previous governments, concrete legislation was made only in 2024. “Even during the Rajiv Gandhi-led Congress government in 1986, this issue was only discussed, but no law was made. In 2024, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a law was made on this subject and now it is being further strengthened. In Haryana too, our government has already implemented the resolution of ‘without slip or expense’ recruitment, thereby establishing a transparent and merit-based recruitment system. If the central government takes even stricter legal measures in this direction, then certainly the country will The confidence of youth across the country will increase in the examination system… Now, the bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha, which will ensure the protection of our youth and their rights,” CM Saini said.
The Union Cabinet on Friday approved amendments to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, to strengthen the anti-paper-leak law amid nationwide protests over the NEET-UG controversy, even as the deadlock in Parliament continued for the fifth day. According to sources, the proposed amendment bill is likely to be introduced in Parliament on Monday, July 27. (ANI)
