Big news is coming out about the 50 rupee coin. For a long time, people felt that the new coin was going to come in the market for 50 rupees. But now the central government has clearly told that there is no plan to bring a coin of 50 rupees. In fact, the central government has told the Delhi High Court that there is no plan to bring a coin of 50 rupees in the market right now. The government said this in response to a petition, demanding that a 50 rupee coins were issued for visually impaired (blind) people. Currently, coins of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 rupees run in the market, but there is no coin of 50 rupees.

People like notes more than coins

The government told the court that in 2022, the Reserve Bank (RBI) had conducted a survey, which revealed that people like notes more than 10 and 20 rupees coins.

The survey also revealed that people are troubled by the heavy weight and large size of coins. For this reason, the government has not decided to bring a coin of 50 rupees at present.

Coin is not made just by demand

The government said that before bringing a coin of any value, many things have to be taken care of-as if people are ready to adopt it, will it be useful in daily transactions, etc.

What was the demand for petition?

The petition said that most of the notes have been designed in such a way that visually impaired people can identify them, but there is no such feature in the 50 rupee note. For this reason, the petitioners had demanded to bring a coin of 50 rupees so that even visually people can identify it easily.

RBI’s mani app is helpful

The government also told the court that the Reserve Bank has created a mobile app named Mani, with the help of which visually impaired people can identify the value of notes. From this app, users can hear the amount written above the note. In this way the government has made it clear that there is no need to bring a coin of 50 rupees.
