Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation ‘beginning of accountability’
Patna (Bihar) [भारत]July 26 (ANI): Jan Suraj founder and Bankipur assembly bypoll candidate Prashant Kishor on Sunday described Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as “the beginning of accountability”. He said that public pressure has forced the government to take action.
Kishore said that this issue is bigger than any political party and by uniting the public, those in power can be forced to answer. He said, “This is the beginning of accountability. Accountability is being decided under public pressure. I always say that in this country the opposition party can become weak, but the opposition cannot become weak.”
Support for those opposing the undemocratic behavior of the government
Supporting those challenging the government’s “undemocratic behaviour”, Kishor said, “We stand with everyone who wants to challenge the undemocratic behavior of this government and their work. Sonam Wangchuk is my friend. She is a well-known academician, environmentalist and our friend. This is not a matter of any party; people have seen that if people stand up, if the public stands up, then even those in power will have to bow down.”
He further said that the protests taking place in Delhi are not limited to any one organization and reflect the widespread frustration among the youth. Kishore said, “What you and I are seeing in Delhi was not the protest of one Sonam Wangchuk. The thousands of people who came to protest did not carry CJP flags. They were ordinary youth, frustrated with the daily paper leaks, unemployment and the crumbling education system.”
Questions raised on the arrest of Tej Pratap Yadav
On the arrest of Janashakti Janata Dal (JJD) national president Tej Pratap Yadav, Kishore said, “Tej Pratap announced his support yesterday and last night at 1:30, Tej Pratap was arrested and sent to Beur jail. This shows how scared these people are. Under which section was he arrested? Why was he arrested? The police administration should tell this.”
He further added, “Dharmendra Pradhan had to go, and this is not all, this is just the beginning. This is not going to stop.”
Gave warning to Election Commission
Raising an issue related to election awareness activities, Kishore said, “The District Magistrate has issued an order, in which he has said that Jeevika Didi will work for election awareness. We hope that the Election Commission, their observers will take cognizance of this matter and take action.”
Kishore further said, “If action is not taken by tomorrow, we will go to the Election Commission with our colleagues and sit on a dharna at their gate.” (ANI)
