After the demonstration of Cockroach Janata Party, Congress Seva Dal launched a cleanliness campaign at Jantar Mantar. Activists called it their responsibility towards children and youth. Seva Dal said that they are working on the instructions of Rahul Gandhi and service is their mission.
New Delhi [भारत]July 26 (ANI): Congress Seva Dal workers on Sunday conducted a cleanliness drive at Jantar Mantar after the end of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest. He said they had come to clean the site as part of their responsibility towards the children and youth gathered there.
Service team told cleanliness as their responsibility
Rajkumari Gupta, Delhi state president of Mahila Congress Seva Dal, said that the workers reached Jantar Mantar early in the morning and started cleaning the area. “We reached here at 5:30 am and started cleaning at 6:00 am. We came here to clean because our children were protesting here for many days. They are our children, your children, the children of this country,” Gupta told ANI.
He said garbage had spread due to the presence of thousands of people at the protest site. He said, “With so many thousands of people here, there was bound to be litter like plastic bags and their food waste. It is our duty, as per the instructions of our leader and our national president, who is also here with us. We feel it is our responsibility to clean up the mess left by our children, because they are part of the future of our country.”
Delhi State President of Congress Seva Dal Young Brigade, Bhushan Goyal said that it is the mission of the organization to serve the people and help in times of need. “This is what the Congress Seva Dal does. Be it helping flood victims or cleaning up where there is filth and garbage, our mission is to serve. The Congress Seva Dal is always ready to step forward and help. We are working on the orders of Rahul Gandhi to ensure cleanliness and service, and that is why we are here today,” Goyal told ANI.
Government also targeted
Sangeeta Kankaria, Congress Seva Dal women chief from Madhya Pradesh, said the organization had supported the agitators by providing food, water and umbrellas during the monsoon rains. Kankaria said the protests were not limited to just the NEET paper leak issue and claimed that many other concerns remained. He told ANI, “Today the Seva Dal is cleaning, but the real mess that needs to be cleaned is within the government. We pray to God to give them some sanity. The cleaning should happen within the structure of power, because there are a lot of issues.”
He further expressed concern over the cost of LPG cylinders and ration and unemployment among the youth. Kankaria said, “Look, we do not get orders in Seva Dal. We work on the basis of guidance. We have an ideology. Wherever there is dirt, we clean it.”
CJP’s movement ended, NDMC also clarified
The cleanliness drive came after the CJP ended its agitation at Jantar Mantar in “goodwill” on Friday after receiving assurance on its demands from the government. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) also conducted a midnight cleanliness drive in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas after the protesters vacated the site. NDMC vice-chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal said sanitation and washing teams were deployed to clean and restore the area.
CJP’s agitation ended after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This lasted for more than a month, including a 26-day hunger strike by activist Sonam Wangchuk. The CJP said the government has agreed to pay appropriate compensation to the families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide and assured to withdraw FIRs lodged against the protesters across the country.
Following the end of the agitation, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also announced that the entry and exit gates at all stations of the Delhi Metro network have been opened for passengers. (ANI)
