On Guru Ravidas Jayanti, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave the message of equality, social harmony and Antyodaya and mentioned the schemes of UCC and Central and State Government.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday participated in the state level workshop of ‘Samarsata Sankalp Abhiyan’ organized on the occasion of the 650th birth anniversary of Saint Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj, organized at a hotel on Tyagi Road, Dehradun. During this, he paid tribute to Saint Ravidas and described his thoughts as very relevant for today’s society.
The Chief Minister said that the life of Guru Ravidas is a symbol of the great tradition of Indian culture, which always gave the message of equality, social justice, humanity and mutual harmony to the society. He said that Saint Ravidas, through his thoughts and life, inspired people to rise above the evils like untouchability, caste discrimination and social inequality.
Guru Ravidas Jayanti: A person is identified by his actions and character, not by caste.
Chief Minister Dhami said that Guru Ravidas had a clear message that the value of any person should not be determined by his caste, but by his character, deeds and life values. He said that Saint Ravidas showed the path of true devotion by staying away from show and rituals. His famous message ‘Man Changa to Kathauti Mein Ganga’ still teaches people about purity of mind, simplicity and social harmony.
Begampura Concept: Gave the dream of a society free from discrimination and sorrow
CM Dhami said that Guru Ravidas had imagined an ideal society like ‘Begampura’, where no one is discriminated against, every person gets respect and no one sleeps hungry. He said that even today this thought of Saint Ravidas is inspiring in the direction of social equality and justice. Society will become strong only when every person gets equal opportunity and respect.
PM Modi Government: Government taking forward the resolution of Antyodaya
The Chief Minister said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously making efforts to implement the ideas of social harmony and Antyodaya of Guru Ravidas on the ground. He said that the government is trying to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach every needy without any discrimination. During this, he mentioned schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission and said that these have brought positive changes in the lives of people belonging to poor, deprived and backward classes.
Uttarakhand Development: State government is working on the principle of Antyodaya
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Uttarakhand government is also working with the spirit of Antyodaya under the guidance of the Prime Minister. He said that the priority of the government is to bring development to remote and hilly areas, create a transparent employment system for the youth and extend the benefits of government schemes to the last person of the society, so that all people can join the mainstream of development.
UCC in Uttarakhand: Uniform Civil Code will strengthen social equality
In the program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also mentioned the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implemented in Uttarakhand. He said that the implementation of UCC has ensured a uniform legal system for all the citizens of the state. This will strengthen equality, justice and social harmony. The objective of the government is to give equal rights to every citizen and eliminate the feeling of discrimination.
Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan: A call to reach every village
CM Dhami appealed to the party workers to take the ‘Samarsata Sankalp Abhiyan’ to every village, locality and home and make it a campaign of public participation. He said that the workers should spread the message of equality, brotherhood and social unity of Sant Ravidas to the people through public meetings, community dialogue and awareness programs.
Social Harmony: The nation will be strong only through social unity.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the increasing divisive thinking and discriminatory mentality in the society can be countered only with social unity and the spirit of ‘Nation First’. He said that Guru Ravidas’s dream of a harmonious and prosperous society will be fulfilled only when people rise above caste discrimination and move forward unitedly.
At the end of his address, the Chief Minister called upon all the people to adopt the ideals of Sant Ravidas in their lives, strengthen social harmony and work together for the unity and integrity of the country. He expressed confidence that with collective efforts, Uttarakhand will move towards becoming the best state in the country with the vision of ‘resolution without options’.
