Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [भारत]July 25 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Saturday welcomed the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, saying “Gen Z has shown the way” and democracy and constitutional values have strengthened. CM Satheesan praised Rahul Gandhi and the opposition for supporting the students and raising the issue of exam irregularities. He also remembered the youth who lost their lives due to the question paper leak and said that their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
“They came, they fought and they won. Gen Z has shown the way. Democracy has strengthened and constitutional values have prevailed,” the Kerala CM wrote in a post on Twitter.
The post further read, “I salute @RahulGandhi ji and the entire opposition for standing strong with the youth and carrying forward this historic fight both inside and outside Parliament. Today we also remember the youth who lost their lives in the wake of the question paper leak. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Opposition leaders welcomed the resignation
The development comes after Pradhan announced his resignation, in which he said he had submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the interest of students and to ensure that “anti-national forces” do not take advantage of the ongoing protests over exam irregularities.
The resignation comes after weeks of nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in competitive exams, with students demanding greater transparency, accountability and reforms in the examination system.

Besides this, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and leader of opposition in Odisha Naveen Patnaik also congratulated the youth of India, Gen Z and said that their voice should be respected in a strong democracy. He said that no one is above the will of the people and the future of India belongs to the youth.

Mayawati demanded action against police
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati said the decision came after protests by students and youth. Mayawati said that the resignation should have happened earlier. He also demanded strict action against policemen accused of using force on students during the protest at Jantar Mantar.
Mayawati said, “Due to the movement of students and youth of the country, the decision of resignation of Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today is appropriate, it would have been better if it had been taken earlier. At the same time, our party also expects the Central Government to take strict action against the policemen who brutally attacked the unarmed students protesting peacefully at Jantar Mantar with sticks, batons etc., due to which a large number of them got seriously injured.” And especially the male policemen who misbehaved and used force on the girl students should be identified and strict legal action should be taken against them by registering disciplinary and criminal cases, so that no one dares to do such heinous acts in future.
The post further read, “Also, the government should withdraw all the FIRs or complaints filed against the protesting students and youth, so that they do not have to make rounds of police stations and courts in future, and their future is not ruined due to this, so that the country can once again have a harmonious environment.
