India’s account has been officially opened in the medal race at the Commonwealth Games 2026. On the second day of the ongoing Games in Glasgow, Indian para-athlete Jhandu Kumar won the bronze medal and won India’s first medal. In the heavyweight category of powerlifting, Indian lifter Jhandu Kumar gave a sensational performance and won the bronze medal by finishing third with 130.9 points. 28 year old Jhandu Kumar, coming from Bihar, was infected with polio at the age of 5, due to which he became disabled for life. But despite this he created history by winning a medal for the country.
