Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has ordered the construction of Indiramma Habitat in the urban core zone of Hyderabad. Vacant government lands will be used for this. The CM said that houses should be built near workplaces so that the livelihood of the poor is not affected.
Hyderabad (Telangana) [भारत]July 24 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday ordered officials to develop Indiramma Housing Colonies in residential areas of the Core Urban Area (CURE) zone of Hyderabad.
Reviewing the implementation of the Indiramma Urban Housing Scheme, the Chief Minister inquired about the availability of government land and directed officials to identify unused land owned by various government departments in the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits.
The officials briefed the Chief Minister about the details of housing sites identified in several assembly constituencies. It was decided in the meeting to use the land owned by police, revenue and transport departments for Indiramma Housing Scheme. These departments will be given land at other places as an alternative arrangement.
Houses will be built near workplaces
CM Revanth Reddy said construction of Indiramma houses away from residential areas could create difficulties for the residents in terms of employment and livelihood opportunities.
The Chief Minister said that the houses built for the poor, which were far away, were lying unused. The CM stressed the need to build houses near workplaces in residential areas and ensure that the poor do not lose their means of livelihood.
Features of Indiramma Housing Scheme
The state government has already announced a scheme to build Indiramma houses for the poor in several constituencies in the CURE region. Each flat will be built with a total area of approximately 528 square feet and carpet area of 400 square feet.
While the construction cost is around ₹11 lakh, the government announced a substantial subsidy of ₹5 lakh. The beneficiary will have to pay the remaining ₹6 lakh. The government is bearing the entire cost of the land.
7,680 flats will be built in 17 assembly constituencies in the first phase.
In the first phase, plans to construct and distribute 7,680 flats in 17 constituencies are being finalized.
In the first phase, ‘Indiramma’ houses will be built in the following constituencies: Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Caravan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Sanatnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment and Malakpet.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to expedite the process of identifying unused government land in these assembly constituencies.
In this review meeting, Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, Special Chief Secretary of R&B Vikas Raj, DGP CV Anand, Principal Secretary to CM N. Sridhar and V. Seshadri, Revenue Secretary Lokesh Kumar, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Housing Special Secretary VP Gautam, Hyderabad District Collector Priyanka Ala and other senior officials participated.
