New Delhi [भारत]July 24 (ANI): Sonam Wangchuk ended her hunger strike after 26 days on Friday in the presence of Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh and senior leaders of the apex body from Leh Ladakh. In a post on X, Wangchuk said the move was taken after lengthy negotiations on various conditions and in view of potential violence in the country.
Fast broken after 26 days

Wangchuk said, “This was done after long negotiations on various terms and in view of the potential violence in the country. I will explain the terms in detail in a separate video soon. In the meantime, all of you are requested to be very vigilant in not allowing any kind of violence anywhere.”
Earlier, Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram following directions from the Delhi High Court.
CJP calls for demonstration on NEET-UG paper leak
Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) called for nationwide peaceful protests on July 24 (Friday), demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy. In a post on Twitter, CJP shared a poster urging everyone to participate in peaceful protests across the country to demand Pradhan’s resignation. CJP urged student unions and other organizations to cooperate and work together for permissions and logistics to hold the protest and read out the students’ demands loudly.
Government ready for talks
The Center on Thursday reiterated its willingness to hold talks with student representatives, while the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) said it has not yet received any communication from the government and is ready for talks at Jantar Mantar or a neutral venue. Union Minister Jitendra Singh said the government is not standing on prestige and both he and Union Minister JP Nadda will be present during any talks.
The Union minister told ANI, “The government has sent four formal proposals for discussion with their representatives from tomorrow afternoon… This is a standing invitation to all our young friends that the government is ready to discuss all issues at any time, at your convenience. The discussion can take place at JP Nadda’s office or residence. We are not standing on prestige. Union Health Minister JP Nadda and I will be present for the discussion. Gradually, through discussion, we will move towards a solution. This will be for the benefit of the students. It is a part of the series of continuous steps taken by the government for welfare. Humbly, I appeal to all of you to come and discuss.”
Meanwhile, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Saurav Das said that he has not received any information regarding talks from the government, adding that the party is ready to meet at Jantar Mantar or any neutral place. He said the government should directly approach the party to decide the venue, time and duration of the discussion. “Union Minister Jitendra Singh said we can hold talks anywhere; so we have already given our suggestion. Come to some neutral place like Jantar Mantar or the Constitution Club of India. We will meet there. I have not received any message from him yet,” Das told ANI. (ANI)
