When is Bakra Eid 2026?
The Islamic calendar consists of 12 months and its last month is called Dhul Hijja. Eid ul Azha is celebrated on the 10th of this month. This month is considered very sacred in the religion of Islam. In countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE and Pakistan, the month of Dhul Hijja started from May 18, hence Bakrid will be celebrated on May 27 in these countries. Whereas in India this festival will be celebrated on the next day i.e. 28th May.

How to celebrate Eid ul Azha?
On the occasion of Eid ul Azha, people wake up early in the morning, wear clean clothes and worship Allah. Go to the mosque to offer Eid prayers. After the Namaz, the ritual of sacrifice is performed. People congratulate each other on Eid. There is also a tradition of visiting the homes of relatives and friends on this day. Also, needy people are helped by providing food, clothes and other essential items.
Why do they sacrifice goat?
According to Islamic beliefs, Hazrat Ibrahim Alaihissalam was a pious servant of Allah. Once, to test him, Allah asked him to sacrifice his most precious thing. Obeying Allah, Hazrat Ibrahim agreed to sacrifice his son. When they started sacrificing their son, Allah, seeing their devotion and dedication, sent an animal to sacrifice in place of their son. Since then the tradition of sacrificing animals on Eid ul Azha i.e. Bakra Eid started.
