India Building Semiconductor Supply Chain
Asserting that every citizen is working towards the resolution of building a developed nation by 2047, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that a comprehensive semiconductor supply chain is taking root in India, with 10 major domestic units poised to make a global impact in the near future.
Addressing a Rozgar Mela via video conferencing, the Prime Minister emphasised that heavy capital investments in core manufacturing and engineering sectors are generating millions of high-quality job opportunities for the nation’s youth, with a ‘complete supply chain for semiconductors is being created in India’.
“Today, every Indian is moving forward with a big resolution, which is to build a developed India by 2047. To achieve this goal, the country is investing in various sectors, and this investment is creating millions of new employment opportunities for the youth of the country. Today, a complete supply chain for semiconductor manufacturing is being created in India. In the coming times, 10 major semiconductor units from India will be making their mark in the world,” PM Modi said.
Focus on Maritime and Aerospace Sectors
The Prime Minister further detailed the government’s strategic focus on the maritime and aerospace sectors, highlighting major financial and structural initiatives to establish high-end engineering capabilities within the country.
“Today, India is developing an ecosystem from shipbuilding to refitting and overhauling. An investment of approximately Rs 75,000 crore is being made for this. Similarly, we are developing a complete MRO ecosystem, i.e., maintenance, overhaul, and repair facilities, in India itself. This will greatly help the country’s aviation sector and will certainly open up a new sector of employment for India’s youth,” he added.
The push to establish an indigenous Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) network is set to significantly reduce costs for Indian commercial airlines, which have traditionally relied on overseas facilities for heavy aircraft maintenance.
Global Partnerships and Youth Power
Asserting that global partnerships are unlocking unprecedented pathways for the nation’s workforce, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the world highly respects nations that innovate, build, and deliver at scale, adding that India is progressing rapidly in all three directions, driven by its youth power.
“With every new partnership, we are creating new avenues for Indian startups, researchers, and young professionals to connect with the world. This will also provide Indian youth with access to advanced expertise, global markets, and new growth opportunities. Today, the world respects countries that innovate, build, and deliver at scale. India is progressing rapidly in all three directions, and the biggest force behind this change is India’s youth. Wherever I go in the world, I spend a lot of time discussing India’s youth power”, PM Modi said.
