The whole thing started when well-known travel content creator Ruchi Trivedi posted a video on Instagram of her first journey in this state-of-the-art sleeper train. This video titled ‘My first experience: New generation sleeper train in India’ garnered millions of views in no time. The view inside this new generation sleeper train, which hit the tracks only about four months ago, looked like a luxury hotel or an international flight. Describing her journey as ‘tremendous’, Ruchi praised this new success of Indian Railways.

As soon as Ruchi Trivedi shows the layout inside the 2nd AC coach in the video, the audience cannot take their eyes off it. He praised the coach’s premium curtains, modern reading lights, excellent layout and meticulous design keeping in mind the privacy of passengers. Ruchi said excitedly in the video: “So guys, look, we are sitting here right now. This is a sleeper coach of Vande Bharat, second AC. Look at the curtains and everything; how well designed they are. The entire train has been made to international standards.” Not only this, the freshness of the bedding and new blanket covers given to the passengers also attracted people’s attention, which were extremely clean and hygienic compared to normal trains.
A big fear and a test of the public’s ‘civic sense’
Along with praising this very beautiful and international standard train, Ruchi also raised a serious and bitter question before the citizens of the country. Appealing to the countrymen, he said that the train is shining brightly, but now it is our responsibility to keep it like this. As soon as the video went viral, social media users were divided into two factions. While on one hand the government was being praised, on the other hand people were apprehensive about whether the Indian public would be able to appreciate this world-class property? “I want to see how my fellow Indians behave with this train,” wrote one user on the Internet, while another said, “The government has done its job, now it’s our turn.”

The Vande Bharat Series, which started between New Delhi and Varanasi in February 2019, has so far transported more than 9.1 crore passengers to their destination. In the financial year 2025-26, its number of passengers has reached 3.98 crore with a huge increase of 34 percent. The huge demand for sleeper coaches can be gauged from the fact that Kamakhya-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper service has recorded more than 100 percent occupancy in its 119 trips in the first three months.
