NIA has raided and arrested two people in the bike blast case in Koderma, Jharkhand. The agency seized 1,662 illegal detonators, Rs 16 lakh in cash and 5 digital devices. This arrest has been made in a bike blast case of 2024.
NIA action in Jharkhand bike blast case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted searches at four places in Koderma district of Jharkhand. During this period, 1,662 illegal non-electric detonators and other objectionable materials were seized and two people were arrested.
The search was conducted in connection with a motorcycle blast that took place in Saltora area in 2024, after which the accused Mahesh Mehta and Shankar Yadav were arrested.
According to the NIA, both the accused were allegedly involved in a criminal conspiracy to illegally store explosives and deliver them to a co-accused, thereby causing threat to life and property. The agency seized five digital devices and Rs 16 lakh in cash during the search.
Conspiracy and illegal network exposed
Three other accused have already been arrested and charge sheet filed in this case, which was registered by the NIA in October 2024. The case pertains to an explosion in which an accused named Joydeb Mandal alias Bablu Mandal had died during illegal transportation of explosives.
During investigation, NIA uncovered a criminal conspiracy involving storage and transportation of explosives illegally procured without valid licenses. The agency also discovered a clandestine network involved in the storage and transportation process, which was handling explosives in a dangerous and improper manner. The NIA said investigation is underway to trace the source of the explosives and their exact location.
PFI leader arrested as soon as he returned from Saudi Arabia
Earlier in the day, the NIA arrested another prominent fugitive of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the Srinivasan murder case in Kerala. He was caught as soon as he reached Delhi’s IGI Airport from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
PFI’s Palakkad district president Muhammad Ali KP was taken into custody as soon as he landed at IGI airport from Riyadh. He was hiding there for the last four years. The NIA had announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his arrest and an Interpol red notice was also issued against him. NIA said that with this arrest the total number of accused arrested in the case has increased to 67. (ANI)
