New Delhi: Citroen have officially started accepting bookings for Aircross, with a token money of Rs 11,000. Quite like the ‘X’ updates rolled out on both the C3 and Basalt in recent while, it will be a trim rework for the Aircross, with additional features in the top trim and make the overall pricing of the midsize SUVs more affordable.
The Aircross X is yet to be unveiled, though they have given a teaser, which shows a dark green colour option. Like every other ‘X’ variant from the company, it will come with a badge noting the same.
What to expect from Citroen Aircross X?
Details about the inside are much less, though the teaser did reveal that it will come with cruise control. If the Aircross is going to take cues from the C3 X and Basalt X, the Aircross X is likely to get features like an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, push-button start/stop, white ambient lighting, LED fog lamps, updated interior trim, and, for an added Rs 25,000, a 360-degree camera and a leatherette-wrapped dashboard.
Since Aircross is placed above the Basalt, the former’s ‘X’ update is likely to add Citroen’s in-car AI assistant Cara, which can execute voice commands, give vehicle data, optimise routes based on traffic and much more. I have personally seen the Cara, and it is an interesting feature. Citroen have gone way to avoid any data being leaked by giving it a mute button, which stops it from listening to your conversation.
There are no mechanical changes in either C3 X and Basalt X, and the same is expected for the Aircross X. At the entry level, it gets a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which makes 82 bhp and is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The higher trims get a 1.2 three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit that is offered with either a six-speed torque converter auto or a six-speed manual.
