Uniform Civil Code Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh government has launched a new website to take suggestions from the public on Uniform Civil Code. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the committee will go to the districts and take opinion from the people. The last date for giving suggestions has been fixed as 15 June 2026.

The government has taken a big step regarding Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Madhya Pradesh. The state government is now preparing to take public opinion directly on this issue. For this, the high level committee will visit the districts and collect suggestions from common citizens, social organizations, political parties and various sections. To give digital form to this entire process, the state government has also launched a special website.

While inaugurating the website of Uniform Civil Code Madhya Pradesh in the Ministry, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described it as a historic initiative. He said that this is not just a legal process but a matter of public interest connecting every section of the society.

You can give suggestions till June 15

Citizens will be able to send their suggestions till June 15, 2026, through the website launched by the state government. The aim of the government is to ensure participation of maximum people on a sensitive and comprehensive subject like Uniform Civil Code. According to the government, public opinion will be sought on various aspects related to marriage, divorce, maintenance, succession and family laws. Based on these suggestions the committee will prepare its recommendations.

The high level committee will not be limited to online suggestions only. Committee members will also visit different districts and interact with the people. It is believed that the government is trying to create a broad social consensus on this issue. The Chief Minister said that the website created in the state will make this process transparent and easy. He also said that Madhya Pradesh has become one of the leading states in creating such digital public consultation system.

Chief Minister said – Steps in the direction of “One Nation, One Constitution”

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the country has been discussing the issue of Uniform Civil Code for a long time and now concrete initiatives are being taken to take it forward. Referring to the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that work has started in this direction in the states also. The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh will fulfill its responsibilities towards “one law” while understanding the spirit of “one nation, one legislation, one mark”. According to him, this step is being taken with the aim of protecting the interests of the citizens and ensuring equality.

The committee constituted by the government will study the legal, social and administrative aspects related to marriage, divorce, maintenance, succession and other family laws. Experts believe that Uniform Civil Code is not just a matter of law, but it is also directly related to social traditions, religious beliefs and civil rights. Former Supreme Court judge is leading the committee

The chairperson of this high level committee is retired Supreme Court Justice Prakash Rachna Desai. He participated in the website launch program through virtual medium and described public participation as an important part of the democratic process. Committee Secretary Ajay Katesaria also shared information about the committee’s work and the proposed study. Many senior officials including Chief Secretary Anurag Jain were present in the program.
