An interesting divorce case has come to light in the Family Court of Bhopal, where his wife demanded separation from a temple priest citing profession and dress. The surprising thing is that the wife has recently been selected for the post of Police Sub-Inspector.
Reportedly, after becoming an officer, she started feeling embarrassed by her husband’s dhoti-kurta, shikha (topknot) and profession of a priest. Citing this reason, she filed a divorce petition in the court and demanded separation from her husband.
Husband made SI by educating his wife
At the same time, the husband argues that he took care of his wife’s education from his savings, but after becoming a sub-inspector, the same wife is now asking for divorce. According to court documents, the couple’s married life lasted for three-four years. The husband claims that while supporting his wife’s dream of becoming a police officer, he spent money on training, coaching and preparing for the exam. When his wife got selected in the police, his attitude suddenly changed.
Wife put this demand in front of husband
According to media reports, the wife told her husband that she would have to change her attire and profession. Also the crest will have to be cut. At the same time, the husband refused to listen to his wife citing religious faith and personal identity. In the petition, the wife said that it has become uncomfortable and humiliating for her to go anywhere in public with her husband, which does not match with her professional and personal life.
The court tried hard to bring about reconciliation between the two, but the woman remained adamant on her demand for divorce. Family counselor Shail Awasthi said, ‘Sudden change in social mobility gets into the lifestyle. In such a situation, it becomes difficult to accept each other and emotional detachment increases, which becomes the reason for divorce.
