The Kolkata Metro Railway will extend timings and increase services on its Blue and Green lines starting July 27 to provide better connectivity and greater convenience to commuters, an official said on Thursday.
The first train on both Blue and Green lines will start at 6 am, and the last train will depart at 10:30 pm, respectively, in both directions from Monday to Saturday, the Metro official said in a statement.
In Blue line at present the first train start at 6.50 am and the last train depart at 9.44 pm while in Green line the first train start at 6.39 am and the last train depart at 10.05 pm.
“These enhanced services are introduced to improve passenger convenience by increasing the number of train services and providing earlier morning connectivity on weekdays and Saturdays,” he said.
Commuters working long hours or on early and late shifts have been demanding extended timings of the Metro railway services.
Metro services on the Blue line, connecting Dakshineswar with Kavi Subhash, will increase to 272 on weekdays, 258 on Saturdays and 158 on Sundays, the official said.
In the Green line, connecting Sector V in Salt Lake with Howrah Maidan, services will be increased to 236 on weekdays, 212 on Saturdays and 111 on Sundays, according to the statement.
On Sundays, train services on both the Blue line and Green line will be available from 9 am to 10.30 pm, it said.
