LikeNorth Korean car company Hyundai is going to play a big bet to establish its dominance in the Indian SUV market. After its superhit Creta, the company is now preparing to launch three new SUVs. This is part of the company’s bigger plan, under which about 26 new vehicles are to be launched by 2030. Through these new SUVs, Hyundai aims to give tough competition to its rivals like Tata Motors and Mahindra. Let us know about these upcoming vehicles.
HE1i Electric SUV
This will be a new sub-4 meter electric SUV from Hyundai for India, codenamed HE1i. This vehicle has been seen several times during testing. In the market it will compete with vehicles like Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. According to reports, this will be Hyundai’s first dedicated and domestically developed electric vehicle for India. It will be built on the E-GMP(K) platform. It is expected that it will get two battery pack options of 42 kWh and 49 kWh, which can give a driving range of more than 300 kilometers. Level-2 ADAS and premium features can also be provided in it. This electric SUV may hit the market in late 2026 or early 2027.
B4Ci SUV
This will be a new mid-size SUV, which will be positioned between the Venue and Creta. It is codenamed B4Ci and may be based on the Hyundai Bayon crossover. It is being said that it can get a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. However, current reports suggest that it will not have the option of hybrid or diesel engine. In its place, there is a possibility of getting a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will come with manual and IVT transmission. The special thing is that its factory-fitted CNG variant can also come. This will be Hyundai’s first CNG SUV longer than 4 meters, in which the CNG tank will be installed at the bottom of the vehicle. This SUV equipped with premium features can be launched in September 2026.
New generation Hyundai Creta
Creta is one of Hyundai’s most successful SUVs in India. The company is now working on its next generation, which has also been spotted testing in India. The new Creta will come with a new design, better cabin and modern technology. There are reports that it will be built on a new platform, which will further increase its safety. Like the current model, it is also expected to be available in turbo petrol, turbo diesel and naturally aspirated petrol engine options. Also, options of manual and automatic gearbox will also be available. Hyundai is also considering replacing diesel engines with hybrid technology in the future. With these three new vehicles, Hyundai intends to make the competition even tougher in the Indian SUV market.
