Sawan Rudrabhishek 2026: Sawan is the fifth month of the Hindi calendar. This month has been dedicated to the special worship of Lord Shiva. According to mythological beliefs, the month of Saavan is very dear to Lord Shiva. In this month, God remains in a happy mood and listens to the prayers of all his devotees and fulfills their wishes. According to Drik Panchang, this year the month of Saavan is starting from 30th July, which will continue till the full moon of the month of Saavan on 28th August.
The tradition of Rudrabhishek and Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in the month of Sawan has been going on for centuries. The special importance of both these things in this month has been mentioned in the Sanatan Dharma scriptures. Rudrabhishek is very dear to Lord Shiva. According to religious belief, by performing Rudrabhishek of Bholenath in Sawan, worldly troubles go away. Along with this, one also gets relief from planetary defects. Method of Rudrabhishek
If you want to perform Rudrabhishek at home, then first clean the place of worship and sprinkle Ganga water. Keep Shivling in the north direction and face towards the east. Fill the Shringi with Ganga water and offer it to Shivling. During this, chant the mantra Om Namah Shivay. Offer milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugarcane juice, mustard oil and perfume on Shivalinga. After this, apply sandalwood paste on Shivling. Offer betel leaf, betel nut, paan, bhog, and other puja materials. Keep incense and lamp lit near Shivling. Chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, Shiv Tandav Stotra, Om Namah Shivay or Rudra Mantra. After this, perform aarti of Shivling in a proper manner. Sprinkle the consecration water all over the house and let everyone drink it.
Importance of Rudrabhishek
There is a religious belief that by performing Rudrabhishek in Sawan, Lord Shiva gets pleased quickly and fulfills all the wishes. By performing Rudrabhishek, the bad effects of the planets present in the horoscope are eliminated. Kaalsarp Dosh, Rahu Dosh, Shani Dosh, household troubles, loss in business and money related problems are removed. Very positive and unique changes come in life. Happiness, prosperity comes and good health is achieved.
