International conference on Election Observer System will be held in Dehradun on 24th July. It will include representatives from 7 countries, experts from more than 20 universities and more than 400 participants.
Dehradun. A one-day international conference is being organized by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Uttarakhand on 24th July in Dehradun. The theme of this conference has been kept as “Model Standards for Electoral Observers”. Representatives, academicians, researchers and students from India as well as many countries will participate in it.
In the conference, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam will attend as the chief guest. Apart from this, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner of Election Commission of India Mr. Gyanesh Kumar Bharti, Nodal IG of State Police Training Anant Shankar Takawale, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande, District Magistrates of Dehradun and Haridwar and experts from various universities will present their views and research in different technical sessions.
There will be in-depth discussion on ‘Model Standards for Electoral Observers’
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that under the instructions of the Election Commission of India, this one-day international conference is being organized at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun. He said that the main objective of this conference is to review the functioning of the Electoral Observer and to create a strong academic and policy platform to make it more effective, transparent and practical.
Focus will be on strengthening the election observer system
The conference will discuss in detail how to better understand and develop model standards for election observers. Along with this, academicians, policy-makers, legal experts, media representatives and experts in the information technology (IT) sector will be brought together on one platform and their experiences, research and suggestions will be shared. The organizers believe that this type of dialogue will play an important role in making the election process more fair, transparent and effective in future.
Representatives from seven countries registered
So far, representatives of election management institutions from the United States, Romania, Ireland, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Hungary and Nepal have registered for this international conference. Experts from these countries will share their experiences related to election management, which will provide an opportunity to understand the Indian electoral system from a global perspective.
More than 400 participants from more than 20 universities will participate.
Academicians, researchers and experts from various faculties from more than 20 universities of the country will participate in the conference. More than 400 participants will participate in the program through hybrid mode. Experts from several prestigious educational institutions including Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur, Graphic Era Hill University, Uttaranchal University and Doon University will present their research and views on various topics.
