New Delhi [भारत]July 23 (ANI): Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Thursday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of setting up fast-track courts for speedy punishment of NEET paper leak culprits. He alleged that the Prime Minister does not have the courage to stand up in Parliament and have a serious debate.
In a post on Twitter, Ramesh criticized the Prime Minister’s announcement and said it shows that he is ‘shaken and scared’ by the issues being raised by students at Jantar Mantar and across the country. Ramesh wrote, “The Prime Minister does not have the courage to stand up in Parliament and speak and engage in serious debate, as all his predecessors did when needed. This morning he has made a social media post to show that he is concerned about the issues being raised by students across the country. In fact, this post shows that he is shaken and scared. Vote theft, seat theft, donation theft, exam paper theft… the list goes on.”
Ramesh’s comments come amid intensifying protests against the Center over the NEET paper leak issue.
PM Modi had announced fast-track court
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a post on Twitter on Thursday stressed the importance of protecting the future of the country’s youth and announced that fast-track courts will be set up to ensure speedy and stringent punishment to those involved in the paper leak. PM Modi wrote, “Nothing is more important than the well-being and future of our youth! We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure speedy and stringent punishment to those involved in the paper leak. Have directed the authorities concerned to take all necessary steps in this regard. This continues our series of steps to protect the interests of students. Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared.”
Congress demanded action against the minister
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari also criticized the government’s decision and questioned why action was not being taken against the minister under whose department the papers were allegedly leaked. Tiwari said, “Indian politics is proof that whenever a minister’s department reaches a stage where an investigation has to be ordered, fast-track courts have to be set up… Yet today PM Modi has set up fast-track courts only to punish petty agents. What about the minister under whose supervision papers have been leaked 152 times? Will such an incompetent and corrupt minister remain in power? Even Ravan did not have such arrogance…” (ANI)
