The Central Government has started taking strict action against the cosmetic treatments being done through injections in beauty clinics. Central Drugs Standard Control Organization i.e. CDSCO has made it clear that no cosmetic product is allowed to be used in the form of injections. The government has warned that if any company, clinic or seller claims or promotes the use of cosmetic products through injection, then strict action will be taken against it.
In the notice issued by the Drug Controller General of India, Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, it has been said that cosmetic companies cannot make such claims which mislead people. Making false, exaggerated or therapeutic claims in the label, packaging or advertising of any product will be considered a violation of the rules.
These cannot be used in treatment
The government has clarified that under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940, cosmetics are those products which are meant to be applied, sprayed or used externally on the body. Their purpose is only to clean, enhance beauty and look attractive. These cannot be used as treatment or injection.
CDSCO appealed to the people
The notice also states that using cosmetic products containing unsafe or banned ingredients and presenting cosmetics as treatment is a legal offense. CDSCO has appealed to the people to immediately inform the regulatory agencies or state licensing authority if any cosmetic products are being misused, misappropriated or used through injections.
Many such cases came before CDSCO
According to officials, this warning is especially important for aesthetic, beauty and wellness clinics, where injection-based procedures are being done in the name of skin glow, anti-aging and beauty treatments. Many such cases had come to CDSCO in recent times, after which this strict step has been taken.
