Hyundai is going to further strengthen its SUV line-up in the Indian market. The company will soon launch the Bayon crossover, a new electric compact SUV to take on the new generation Creta and the Tata Nexon EV.

Hyundai Bayon
Hyundai is preparing to launch its second generation Bayon crossover in India. Its codename is BC4i and it is expected to hit the market by the end of this year. The old Bayon had a crossover design, but the new model will look like a proper SUV. It will have features like split headlamps, bold grille like Hyundai’s big SUVs, thick wheel arches, shark-fin antenna, roof rails, connected LED tail-lamps and futuristic alloy wheels. The new Bayon will have a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which can also come in hybrid option. However, this engine has not been officially introduced yet. Its starting price can be around Rs 8.5 lakh and it will compete with Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
Next-gen Creta
Hyundai may launch the new generation Creta in late 2026 or early 2027. The new Creta will be based on the company’s third generation K3 platform, which will further improve the safety of the SUV. Let us tell you that Seltos built on K3 platform had performed well in India NCAP crash test. The design of the new Creta will be futuristic and it will have a lot of technology. Initially, the company may offer three engine options: 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. Later, a strong hybrid engine based on 1.5-liter petrol can also be given in it.
Electric Compact SUV (HE1i)
Hyundai is set to launch a new electric compact SUV in India by the end of this financial year. Its codename is HE1i and it will be based on the Inster EV sold in the global market. This car will compete with Tata Nexon EV and MG’s upcoming Windsor EV. The company will use locally made batteries taken from Exide. This electric SUV can come in standard and long-range versions, which can be claimed to have a range of up to 500 kilometers.
