Revealed! Staggering amount Apollo Tyres will pay per match after becoming Team India’s new sponsor

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s search for a new jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team has ended. Apollo Tyres has been roped in as the new sponsor of Team India, replacing Dream11. The Indian team is currently playing in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 without a jersey sponsor.

As per a report in the PTI, BCCI has inked a three-year deal with Apollo Tyres, making them the new jersey sponsors of Team India. The deal, which is worth Rs 579 crore, will run until 2027, covering roughly 142 matches in that period, including 121 bilateral matches. The deal will also cover the T20 World Cup next year and the ODI World Cup in 2027.

Apollo Tyres won the bidding war for the sponsorship rights in the bidding process that took place on September 16, after BCCI invited bids for Expression of Interest for the Indian team’s Lead Sponsor Rights on September 2nd. JK Tyres, another tyre giant and Canva were reportedly the other firms involved in the bidding war.

Birla Optus Paints also expressed interest in securing the jersey rights of the Indian cricket team, however, they didn’t want to take part in the bidding process. BCCI has released the Expression of Interest for the jersey sponsorship rights after Dream11’s exit earlier this year.

Dream11, which had a three-year contract with the BCCI, had to end its deal prematurely after the Online Gaming Bill was passed in the parliament last month, impacting their business. BCCI and Dream11 decided to end the contract mutually after the bill was passed.

How much will BCCI earn per match from Apollo Tyres?

As per news agency PTI, Apollo Tyres has signed a deal worth Rs 579 crore with the BCCI for Team India’s jersey sponsorship rights for the next three years, which is significantly higher than their Rs 358 crore three-year deal with Dream11. There will be around 121 bilateral matches and 21 ICC matches in the period, which means the BCCI will be earning approximately Rs 4.77 crore per match.

There could be a change in valuations for the ICC and the bilateral matches. BCCI earns more in bilateral matches, where the brand name is flaunted on the front of the jersey, covering the players’ chests. Whereas in ICC matches, the brand name is limited to the sleeves, meaning low visibility and low fee.

BCCI was earning Rs 3.17 crore for bilateral games and Rs 1.12 crore for ICC matches in their deal with Dream11. The Indian cricket board is set to earn a significantly high fee from Apollo Tyres after roping them as the new jersey sponsors of the Indian team.

The Indian team is currently in action in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. India kicked off their campaign with a thumping victory against UAE, before crushing Pakistan in a high-pressure clash on Sunday. India thrashed Pakistan by 7 wickets to bag their second win in a row in the tournament and secure their spot in the Super 4.
