Saboot Sachchuk Latest News: Activist Sonam Wangchuk has made a big announcement on the 25th day of the hunger strike. He said he is ready to end his fast. But for this he has put a new condition before the government.
Gurugram (Haryana): Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Wednesday has put a big condition before the central government to end her fast. They have demanded that the government assure that “no retaliatory or punitive legal action” will be taken against the protesters who joined the Cockroach Janata Party’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ march.
Today is the 25th day of Sonam Wangchuk’s indefinite fast. He started this fast demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak issue.
Sonam Wangchuk reveals her conditions on X
- In a statement released on social media platform X, Sonam Wangchuk said that the protesters have not committed any crime by taking part in this movement. He wrote, “Therefore, I seek a clear assurance from the government that no legal action will be taken against any of the young protesters taking part in this movement. Their ‘crime’ is only that they raised their voice for a fair and accountable education system.”
- He further said, “If such assurance is given, I will end my fast with the confidence that the government has heard not only my appeal, but also the expectations of millions of young Indians. Failing to get such assurance, I will be forced to continue my fast indefinitely. I also hope that police force will not be used further to suppress the movement.”
Why did Sonam Wangchuk thank Modi government?
- Wangchuk thanked Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh and Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda who visited him in the hospital last night. He told that the Center has assured him of giving appropriate compensation to the families of students who committed suicide after the NEET-UG paper leak.
- He also said that the Union Ministers have also “assured a meaningful discussion in Parliament to ensure accountability, including consideration of the resignation of the Hon’ble Education Minister.”
65 MPs demand Wangchuk to end the strike
- Wangchuk said that about 65 MPs have contacted him and appealed to end the hunger strike.
- He also said that the ‘Chalo Sansad March’ held on July 20 was “very peaceful despite police excesses and excessive use of force… I sincerely hope that this faith in democratic institutions will not be further undermined by any legal matters, harassment or retaliation.”
Delhi Police has registered 10 FIRs against CJP
- Let us inform you that Delhi Police has registered 10 FIRs in connection with the protests organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in the national capital.
- Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Center and Delhi Police on three PILs alleging excessive force by the police during the protests. The court has directed the authorities to preserve the CCTV footage and all other electronic records related to the incident.
- At the same time, Medanta Hospital has said in a statement that Wangchuk “is being treated by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors. At present, his condition is stable, he is conscious and his vital signs are within normal limits. Whatever treatment he is being given, is being done with his full consent.”
